Will Tait

MC and Musical Philosopher

Will’s role in Future Crunch represents a kind of homecoming, a perfect synthesis of the passions, talents, message and special performative flair that he has been nurturing throughout his career. This gift for accommodating, articulating and communicating the rich dilemmas and opportunities of being human, has also drawn him increasingly into MC opportunities, with a number of organisations now engaging him year-on-year for his unique ability to touch hearts, maintain graceful but timely flow, and distil the emergent and core ideas of each event.

Testimonials

Will was the MC and Musical Entertainer for our event ‘The Evolution of Storytelling.’ His segues between each speaker quickly captured key insights and raised fascinating questions to create deeper conversations and engagements with the audience. Will’s live piano-playing during breaks, and in between speakers also generated a personal and creative vibe in the room that the audience loved. He went over and beyond in his work; I cannot recommend him enough to anyone looking for a creative and insightful Master of Ceremonies!
— Megan Davis | Lead Storyteller, The Storytelling Agency
In his role as MC for the annual Sustainability School Expo run by Gippsland’s Regional Centre for Excellence, Will has effectively engaged and inspired hundreds of children and young people across the wider Gippsland region. His knowledge, communication and presentation skills, as well his penchant for lyrical, music-making mediums have all been key factors in the overall success of these events. Will has an extraordinary capacity to bring all participants into a fun-filled, uplifting, engaging and shared environment of discovery and learning.

Foundational Years: 2002-2011
Will began his performance career as an educational presenter and co-owner of Our Planet Enterprises, producing and delivering sustainability-focussed school shows and festival roving performance throughout Melbourne and Victoria. This included a three year contract with the Victorian Department of Sustainability & Environment to produce and tour a 4 person show called The Sustainables through schools.  During this period Will not only developed expertise in capturing and captivating crowds of all ages in a wide range of event spaces and public settings - bringing unexpected magic to launches, AGMs, school assemblies - he also honed his natural talent for distilling ideas, and making them tangible and memorable through humour, metaphor and physical theatre.

Musical Years 2011: to date
With the establishment in 2011 of 8Foot Felix, a band combining immersive theatrics with irresistible dancing beats of many genres, Will embarked on an adventure of touring in Australia and overseas, which enabled him to craft his singing voice, and his ability write for it, whilst honing his expertise as a main stage performer.  8Foot Felix proved themselves in a headline main stage festival setting within a year of their inception, which has since given them ongoing access to large crowds and a loyal following. Will’s sense of purpose and possibility has been optimally shaped over his years as part of this collective, channelling joy, expression, celebration and witnessing the tangible, positive effect this has on these audiences.
